13/2 Traffic Light Simulator

Create in teams of two a basic circuit project with paper/craft materials (e.g. a pop-up-card or an individual page within a collaborative book, size: 18 inches length x 12 inches height, see attachment). Document/Photograph the basic steps that were involved in the making and put them up as a step-by-step guide.

Name: Traffic Light Simulator

Learning goal:

1) Teaching kids basic parallel circuit & enhance their manipulative ability by making a final product.

2) Teaching kids the basic traffic instructions and signs then let them know how to cross the road safely.

3) The instructors are able to control the traffic light and teach students how to go across the road. Student can play by themselves to practice it.

List materials and tools:

1) Three color LED light bulb in red, yellow, and blue

2) 18'' x 12'' white paper for printing

3) Printer

3) Scissor

4) Color markers

5) Button batteries (3v)

6) The copper foil tape. (10 inch)

7) Scotch tape

8) Pencil

Instructions:


1) Print the background image (figure 1) on a 18'' x 12'' white paper.

2) Print the Character(figure 2) on a letter size paper and then cut the character out along its outline.

3) Draw the traffic light on a paper and cut it out.

4) Please stick the copper foil tape on the background picture as instructed below:



5) Stick a section of cooper foil tape on the back of the traffic light, it functions as the switch.

6) Tape the traffic light on the circuit, so that it can cover the circus. Then tape the battery on the circuit.

Note: You can either cut three holes of the traffic light paper, and let the LED pass through the paper, or just cover the LED up and let it shine through the paper.
